Review of Coral Redang Island Resort

Coral Redang Island Resort provides comfortable accommodations for tourists at a midrange price. It is located north of Long Beach, Redang Island. It is quieter on this side of Long Beach while still being close enough to the bars and restaurants.

The resort has a mixture of traditional and modern architecture, with a forest at the back and the sea in the foreground.

Rooms

It offers 61 rooms that are well-appointed and comfortably furnished with a variety of amenities to ensure a pleasant stay. There are three types of accommodations available at the resort: family rooms, superior rooms, and standard rooms. A few family rooms can accommodate up to five people, but these are often sold out during the high season. It’s best to book early to guarantee a space.

All the rooms have showers and attached toilets. The room is clean, and it has comfortable beds, a fan, a table, a safety box, and toiletries. You also get complimentary tea and coffee. Every room has a mini-fridge except for the standard room.

Each room has an individual balcony or veranda with either a sea view on the front side or a garden view on the resort’s backside. While the rooms are relatively small compared to other alternatives charging much higher prices, they are well-maintained.

Activities and Amenities

Guests can enjoy various outdoor activities in the resort’s well-tended garden and on the beachfront. There is an open-air lounge area, a bookshelf corner, a pool table, beach chairs with umbrellas, picnic tables, a recreational center, and a conference room accommodating 24 people. There is also a kid’s pool and an outdoor swimming pool where you can take a refreshing dip during the day.

Coral Redang Resort has its own scuba diving center. Divers can choose from a variety of diving packages to suit their needs. Instructors are friendly, competent, and welcoming. Divers will find well-maintained and clean diving facilities. Divers tend to return here time and again since they enjoy their stay here so much.

You can easily snorkel right off the shoreline as it is close to the beach. You can also rent kayaks here. There is a walking trail in the forest and on the beach near this resort. The resort also offers spa treatments to keep you relaxed during your stay.

A convenience store is available if you need something quick.

[Update 2021: Due to Covid -19, Spa treatments are temporarily unavailable].

Eating

Guests can enjoy local and continental cuisine at the resort’s restaurant. The dining area is spacious and airy on the second floor, with the garden and beach views. The restaurant also served western and local dishes à la carte at all hours, in addition to buffets.

It also has a poolside bar that serves cocktails and drinks. Relax in the sun and enjoy snacks and drinks by the pool. Couples can enjoy romantic packages as well as a candlelight dinner on the beach during their honeymoon.

Rates

A twin-sharing bed and breakfast room cost RM395 per night. Packages for 3D2N with full board start from RM590 per person (twin sharing), including return boat transfers, daily breakfast, lunch, dinner, and three snorkeling trips (without equipment).

The popular full board dive package starts at RM805 per person based on twin sharing. A return boat transfer, daily meals, and four boat dives with a guide, boat, tanks, and weight are included. Divers can rent extra gear at an additional charge.

The Downsides

Friendly and helpful staff maintain the resort well. Although it has some excellent facilities, the rooms do not have TVs or WiFi. There is, however, a common area near the reception where you can watch TV and use the internet if needed. In addition, there are no lounge chairs at the beach, which could be a downside for some guests. During peak season, you may have to wait for a spot to become free if you wish to sunbathe.
